Tiki Bar Set

Enjoy Entertaining With A Tiki Bar Set

If you enjoy outdoor entertaining you may be interested in a Tiki bar set. These unique bamboo structures are guaranteed to bring a festive, relaxing tropical air to any outdoor entertainment. Not limited to outdoor use only, this bar set can also be placed indoors or on a patio providing you have the space for it and it will fit with your surrounding decor.

Most Tiki bar sets are made from bamboo, and sport a bamboo thatched roof or one made of small bamboo sticks joined together. Bamboo is used for the construction and the framing, and the sets usually come complete with a two or three bar stools. The fun thing about these sets are that there are plenty of accessories that can be bought to add to the overall Hawaiian experience, such as Tiki torches to burn at night, Hawaiian lamps to set on the bar, carved beer tap handles and even tiki mugs to serve those refreshing Hawaiian mixes in.

The bar itself is usually a fairly simple design. A simple bar top is covered by a thatched or bamboo roof. The front of the bar is usually made from vertical bamboo halves while the back of the bar has a shelf inset where you can store your glasses and ingredients.

If you are going to be setting up your Tiki bar set outdoors, there are a few cautions.  The bamboo thatching may not hold up that well in hot, dry climates. While bamboo grows in hot climates, it is better suited to areas where there is a little humidity. Too much hot, direct sunlight may cause the bamboo to dry out and split. If you do live in an extremely hot and dry location, you may want to place the bar under some sort of shelter such as on an outdoor covered porch or patio.

Some people like to design and build their own bars. This can be accomplished fairly easily providing you have access to the material used for the bar, or you are able to purchase a Tiki bar set that can be customized. Some kits are more on the high end; however, they are usually made to last for years. Others can be bought for around $300 or less. While these look great, the quality may not be as good as the more expensive sets and thus they may not last quite as long, particularly if used in an outdoor setting.
